Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. She traveled extensively together with President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
